Last year I was told Tai Mo Shan meant Big Fog Mountain,
on the wall of the visitor's centre it says Big Hat Mountain,
which matches the Chinese characters on the map.
In Cantonese a lot of words have the 'Mo' sound: fog, hat, and hair come to mind. Different tones but same basic sound.
