Day 5 -- Juneau

Fish ladder at the salmon hatchery. Young salmon swim down the ladder and out to sea. After several years, they return, swim up the ladder and into the holding tank at the top. The salmon remember the chemical makeup of the water, the smell, and return to it. The hatchery workers separate them by type then extract sperm/eggs to get the materials to create the next generation.
